Chris Laping Co-founder / CEO
Prior to founding People Before Things, LLC, Chris served as SVP, Business Transformation and CIO at Red Robin Gourmet Burgers. In these roles, he was a highly contributing member of a management team that completed a successful turnaround, taking the company from an $8 stock price to $89 in just a few years. Chris has 25 years of technology and change leadership experience across multiple brands and industries and has been widely recognized for his innovative thought leadership. He was named a Top 5 Social Business Leader by The Economist, Social Business Technology Leader by InformationWeek and Premier 100 IT Leader by Computerworld. The work of the teams he led has been spotlighted in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fast Company and CIO Magazine, among others.
Based on the notion that technology alone will never bring organizations the efficiencies they desire, Chris left his corporate role in early 2015 to start a human experience movement with his partner in life, Kristine. The desired outcome: Project teams feel the joy of making an impact, team members feel nurtured and supported during disruptive change, and leaders feel empowered because they have the loyalty and engagement of their people.
Kristine Laping Co-founder / Managing Director
Kristine has led and supported technology and change initiatives for 17 years. After college, she enjoyed being a software instructor, but decided she could add more value to end users by applying her professional and classroom learnings in positions focused on Business Analysis and Project Management. During this time, she fine-tuned her facilitation and product management skills and began to develop an effective toolbox for change leadership. Her out-of-the-box thinking resulted in the development of a strong technology product with a committed and engaged user community—work that resulted in an InfoWorld 100 award three years in a row.
Through corporate, consulting and contract roles, Kristine has had the opportunity to collaborate with executive leaders on strategic solutions, as well as work in contributor roles on delivery teams. This wide range of experience, as a grassroots leader all the way through being a Vice President, has been the perfect incubator for understanding what is required to truly support teams during disruptive change.
Kristine currently sits on the board for OpenWorld Learning (OWL) and enjoys volunteering whenever she can. Her personal and professional motto is, “Who cares what your title is? If something needs be done to get the job done right, jump in and help!”
