Sneak Preview: Unignorable is Coming

Leadership isn't complicated. But don’t tell that to the gurus. They’ll give you complex frameworks and listicles like, "The 21 things you need to do to be a great leader."

But the truth? Leadership doesn’t have to be that complicated. The best leaders—the ones who create real impact—aren’t following some bloated checklist. They’re doing a few things incredibly well and showing up with love & clarity. That’s why I’m writing Unignorable.

I’m just so excited about my new book that I have to share some of the punchlines now. Unignorable is something I’ve been pouring my heart into because I want to help people break through the noise and make a real impact.

This book is about creating a leadership brand that makes you a trusted authority—whether inside your company or externally in the marketplace. Influence isn’t about shouting louder. It’s about standing out in the right way.

So this week, I’m giving you a sneak peek by sharing five ways you can amplify your influence starting now:

I.

Be Easy to Work With

Think about your favorite mobile app. It’s simple, seamless, and just works. Now think about the worst app you’ve ever used—frustrating, clunky, full of unnecessary steps.

The same applies to you. Are you someone who makes things effortless for others? Or do people have to jump through hoops to get things done with you? Long forms, complicated steps, rigid rules ... please lose them.

💡 Try This: Ask someone you trust what ONE thing you could do to be easier to work with. Then take a strategic pause and listen. Implement their feedback immediately.

II.

Be Good at Unlearning

The ability to unlearn outdated habits, bad advice, or old ways of working is the most underrated skill in leadership. The world moves fast. Those who cling to what worked yesterday get left behind.

I recently spoke with a career coach who was frustrated that AI is now writing resumes, cutting into their business. But instead of resisting, what if they unlearned their old process? Why not build a GPT trained on their expertise, making their insights more accessible and scalable?

💡 Try This: Identify one belief or habit that’s holding you back. Challenge yourself to unlearn it. Find someone who’s succeeding with a new approach and study what they do differently.

III.

Have an Original Take on a Problem

The world doesn’t need more generic solutions. What makes someone influential isn’t just having answers—it’s having a unique, thoughtful take on a problem that matters.

As an example, "Families shouldn't have to cram into a hotel on vacation ... they need a home away from home." Airbnb. "It shouldn't be so hard to get a cab late at night." Uber.

You immediately get people's attention when you have a unique spin on a problem that's worth solving.

💡 Try This: What’s a common belief in your industry that you think is wrong? How would you reframe it? Try creating a post on LinkedIn with a contrarian point of view. (Be sure to connect with me so I can be the first to LIKE your post!)

IV.

Sell Without Slides

You don’t build influence with PowerPoint. You build it through compelling conversations. People don’t make decisions based on logic alone—they act because they see something that makes them feel something, and that makes them want to do something.

Storytelling and synchronous conversations change how people feel. Not slide animations, bar charts, and spreadsheets.

💡 Try This: Craft a simple, story-driven explanation of your unique take on a problem. Practice telling it without relying on slides or spreadsheets.

V.

Be a Serial Wonderer

Curiosity is a superpower. The best leaders and influencers ask more questions than they answer. They listen more than they speak. And they stay open to possibilities others miss. This makes you even better at unlearning.

💡 Try This: In your next conversation, aim for a 3:1 listen-to-talk ratio. Use an AI-powered notetaker to review your transcript afterward. Did you dominate the conversation, or did you create space for new insights?

Final Thoughts

The key to influence isn’t doing more—it’s doing what matters. Influence isn’t granted. It’s built.

I’m beyond excited to share more from Unignorable in the coming months. But for now, start here. Because the sooner you apply these ideas, the faster you become impossible to ignore.

Your coach,
Chris

P.S. ♻️ If this resonated with you, forward it to someone who needs to hear it. Let’s get better together.
